First Base Solutions is a reseller of Ontario Parcel Data. In 2002, Teranet Enterprises Inc., the Municipal Property Assesment Corporation (MPAC) and the Ministry of Natural Resources agreed to gather information about Ontario's estimated 4 million land parcels and stardardize this information into what is now know as the Ontario Parcel database. The database contains boundaries, as well as other information such as assesment roll number (ARN) and property identification number (PIN). This information can then be used to link to various data including ownership and assessed value for each property or "parcel" of land in Ontario.

Municipalities and high-tech firms are the primary beneficiaries of the Ontario Parcel mapping. The Ontario Parcel data can be applied to property assessment and taxation, land registration, land use planning, land management and business planning. When combined with our Orthophoto, the Ontario Parcel layer can help to save time an money. Both of these are available through our MapWarehouse or by contacting our sales team.

The Ontario Parcel product is a representation of the parcel fabric within the Province of Ontario. It is compiled without the use of legal and cadastral surveys linked to coordinates, and therefore should not be considered to be "survey grade." The accuracy of the Ontario Parcel product is variable from location to location and depends on the source data available and the build procedure employed.

In the mapped areas, where the existing ownership mapping provides the base, two standards of mapping were employed to build the ownership mapping. These are the POLARIS (Province of Ontario Land Registration Information System) standard and the BIM (Basic Index Mapping) standard. In the unmapped areas, the Pre-BIM standard will be employed.
