OBJECTIVES

Since the client’s IT/GIS staff will ultimately be responsible for identifying the datasets that will be made available to end-users, and processing those datasets through the Fusion server, training on the Fusion application is the cornerstone of a successful deployment and rollout in any organization.

The curriculum for the 3 day training program was entirely developed by First Base Solutions, and has evolved as a result of student feedback and our own observations. Successful completion of the training program prepares the client’s IT/GIS staff to handle all of the logistics, planning, system management and customization required to meet current as well as long-term objectives.

ACTIVITIES

The program is instructor-led, using a combination of Powerpoint slides, demonstrations of key functionality, and hands-on practice by students using workstations connected to working instances of Fusion and Earth software. For this reason, Earth Enterprise training is typically done using a laptop or workstation remotely logged into the Fusion and Earth Server machines. Clients will be provided with complete instructions on setting up the required environment for the training.

Google Earth Enterprise training typically lasts 3 days, and includes software installation, configuration, and comprehensive training on Google Earth Fusion and Server. On the third day, we normally ask the client to provide us with some sample datasets in order to demonstrate styling and customization of their own data in Earth Enterprise, and to allow the students to practice on data that is familiar to them.

Copies of all training documentation are made available to all students to be used throughout the course, and become a very valuable reference tool for them following completion.
