OBJECTIVES
Since Google Earth Enterprise is capable of becoming a centralized repository for all of an
organization’s geospatial data – raster, vector, terrain, 3D models, metadata, etc. – the
implementation process is of critical importance. First Base Solutions will work with the
client to ensure that all short and long-term hardware and networking components will adequately
support the planned usage. Our GEE technical specialists have practical experience gained through a
number of implementations, and will work with the client’s own IT staff from project start through to
rollout.
ACTIVITIES
Working closely with designated contact from client's IT department, the FBS implementation specialist will:
- review existing network, hardware and software infrastructure
- analyze data storage and access requirements anticipated for Google Earth Enterprise
- recommend appropriate server design and capacities to meet those requirements
- provide pre-installation configuration assistance
- install and test Earth and Fusion server applications onsite
- train the client's IT contacts on performing system tasks (installing new versions, cleaning up the database, connecting to external applications, etc.)
DURATION
The GEE technical specialist will generally provide pre-implementation assistance via telephone and email. The complexity of the client’s environment will influence the amount of time required, but generally speaking, total time spent by the FBS specialist on the pre-implementation phase will vary between 16 to 24 hours.
The onsite portion of the GEE specialist’s activities are typically from 8 to 16 hours, again determined by the client’s unique requirements.
