One of the first steps in generating accurate maps and 3D models involves acquiring photographs of geographic areas. This can be done via satellite or aircraft.

Satellite acquisition offers comparatively low-resolution imagery, is often hampered by adverse weather conditions, cloud cover and pollution haze, and is difficult and expensive to reposition for specific projects within specific timelines. Aircraft based image acquisition has much greater flexibility. FBS owns and operates a Cessna 414 aircraft and 86 megapixel Vexcel UltraCAM-D digital camera.

Our pressurized Cessna 414 aircraft is equipped with an 86Mp Vexcel UltraCAM-D digital aerial camera, Somag 3000 gyroscopic mount, Applanix POSTrack AV-V5, GPS,IMU and Track-Air navigation system as well as the very latest in aircraft avionics. The Vexcel Camera features panchromatic, colour and Near Infra Red sensor cones providing sharp and precise digital image outputs. Every picture we take is mirrored for security and redundancy. Our multiple camera lenses feature 8 synchronized camera cones, 9 pan arrays, 4 multi-spectral bands, and synoptic imaging so every captured frame provides you with an error-free central perspective for the creation of orthorectified images and 3D models.

As a sub-contractor, we offer our aircraft, camera system, flight crew and maintenance technicians for mobilization anywhere in north America, central America and the Caribbean. Packages may be customized according to your specific needs and location.
